Summer Appointments

We would propose adding language to Article 2.4 describing the timeline for terms of summer appointments: employee receives letter of intent for summer by January 30 and a final letter of appointment if needed by March 30.

Tuition and Fees

12 – Matriculation and Tuition Payment Program
Article 12 says that tuition payment shall be for at least the minimum number of credit hours required to maintain employment, but people are not getting 100% tuition payments for this course load. We would strengthen the language so that 100% of tuition is covered.
23 – Stipends
In an effort to offset financial burden of fees, we would propose that employees be granted an annual bonus equal to the average amount of fees paid by graduate students.

Personal/Medical Leave

10 – Leaves of Absence and other Leave
We’re allowed 6 weeks of unpaid family/medical leave in the event of: the birth of a child and to care for that child; the placement of a child for adoption or foster care; to provide the care for a serious health condition of a spouse, domestic partner, mother, father, brother, sister, child, legal dependent, or a relative living with the GA; or a serious health condition of the GA which makes them unable to perform their essential job duties. A proposal for this article would expand this policy in terms of a) amount of time offered and/or b) circumstances in which leave policy would apply.
