Every three years, USF GAU negotiates with the administration to come to terms for a new contract, called the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Some terms of the CBA (like wages) are negotiated every year, however, in what is called a contract re-opener. Some recent gains include in 2014, when USF-GAU bargained to increase the University’s proportion of the healthcare subsidy to 100% for GA’s with at least .25 FTE. During the 2019-2020 academic year the cost of insurance increased so that GAs had to pay $159 per year; due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bargaining in 2020 was only able to maintain that rate and add some minor changes to the CBA.
