BIG NEWS: GAU recently ratified our 2026-2028 Collective Bargaining Agreement!

This new CBA includes many changes, including…

  • eliminating the averaging of working hours

  • longer grievance timelines

  • stronger nondiscrimination protections

  • protection from retaliation for reporting workplace concerns

  • timely notice for changes in your workspace or office

  • 5 paid personal days (no reason needed)

  • our 6 weeks of leave are now able to be paid

  • guaranteed paydays and accurate paychecks

    • the university must attempt to fix any pay issues within 3 business days

  • reimbursement for work-related travel

  • codified resources for international GAs

  • LOTS MORE

A Note on Financial Agreements: WE ARE NOT FINISHED FIGHTING FOR BETTER.

This CBA includes a 2% increase to our minimum stipends, a $200 (0.5 FTE)/$100 (<0.5 FTE) one-time bonus, and an increase in our health insurance subsidies to $3,000 of the premium.

We want to be clear: we do not consider these financial offers from the University to be acceptable as a long-term solution.

Based on extensive polling of GAs, we agreed to these financial terms only to allow the remainder of the contract to proceed to ratification. This agreement should not be interpreted as satisfaction with the current stipend amounts.

For this reason, we wrote a mandatory reopener for our financial benefits into the CBA so that we can return to the bargaining table ASAP to continue fighting for fair pay, better benefits, and stronger financial guarantees. This means that bargaining for financial articles like stipends, bonuses, health insurance subsidies, tuition waivers, and fee relief will resume in April 2026.
