Bargaining Session: 8/18/2025
Well, GAs, I wish we had better news. While we were able to TA our representation article, USF came to our session without the other outstanding articles they promised us. The one article they did give us a response on was our International GA rights article. Their response? “The University does not want this in the CBA”. This is unacceptable. As both students and graduate assistants, international GAs have a unique set of requirements, challenges, and experiences that MUST be represented in our CBA. We hear and affirm the concerns of international students, USF GAU stands with international graduate students both now and against any challenges they may face in this evolving political climate. Especially in these tumultuous times, it is of grave importance to us to support and protect international GAs at USF. While we are very disappointed that USF has failed to engage in substantive negotiations on our proposal For this article, we are not giving up. We are committed to continuing to work with the USF Bargaining Team to develop a mutually agreeable article extending and expanding support and protections for International Graduate Assistants. This is something that is a top priority for us as we continue bargaining for our new contract. We look forward to continuing negotiations with USF on this article and others at our next bargaining session at 1pm on September 10 at the Patel Center in CGS 140.
